Network Tasman owns and operates the electricity distribution network in the wider Nelson and Tasman areas, excluding Nelson Electricity's supply area in Nelson city. This means that we look after the poles and wires that take electricity from the national grid.

We distribute power to more than 53,000 consumer connections in an area of 10,800 km2 in the northwest of the South Island. You can find a map of our coverage area here:

Network Tasman is proudly consumer owned. This means that we are owned by consumers connected to the Tasman area of the network via the Network Tasman Trust, which holds the shares in Network Tasman on behalf of our consumers. Since Network Tasman was established in 1993, local consumer ownership of the network has returned an excess of $265 million to consumers by way of discounts and dividends.
